The rural location of the Old Spanish Mill in the foothills of Los Filabres mountain range makes this the perfect place for an activity break, whether that is running, cycling (we have eight mountain bikes), triathlon training, hiking or kayaking. For personal trainers, it is also an ideal venue to bring a group for a bootcamp. If you do not have a group leader or trainer, or would like some ideas on other things you can do in the area, please don’t hesitate to ask us as we may be able to give you some help and guidance.

As a group leader or trainer, you can have exclusive use of the main building: six bedrooms with 14 beds,* kitchen, dining room, two lounges, swimming pool, rooftop terrace and patio areas.

*The bedroom set-ups are as follows:

  • Apartment with a double sofa bed
  • One bedroom with four single beds

Day Excursions

Having our own minibus, we can take you on day trips. Here is a list of possibilities:

  • The traditional Spanish market at Baza and then onto Negratín Lake where you can have lunch in a lakeside restaurant and use the lakeside beach. A guide will accompany you. Wednesdays only.
  • The natural spring at Cela where you can sit around the large warm spring or go for a swim in it, followed by a visit to Serón Castle.
  • The old mining village at Las Menas.
  • Mini Hollywood where many of the famous westerns were filmed.
  • Granada in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. Granada is known for grand examples of medieval architecture dating back to the Moorish occupation, especially the Alhambra Palace. This sprawling hilltop fortress complex encompasses royal palaces, serene patios and reflecting pools from the Nasrid dynasty, as well as the fountains and orchards of the Generalife Gardens. Note: This needs to be booked three weeks in advance.
  • Almería where you could visit the Alcazaba, an imposing Moorish fortress overlooking the city, the fortified Almería Cathedral (16th-century) that has a Gothic ribbed ceiling or the Almería Museum that displays archaeological finds from across the region. The English Cable is a huge iron pier and symbol of the city’s former mining industry.
  • Wine tasting at a local bodega, including tapas.

Please contact us with the number of people wishing to go on any of the excursions for more information.

In addition, we have developed relationships with local professionals and are delighted to be able to offer:

  • Yoga (in our studio or outside at the property, or at a picnic area a 10km walk, run, cycle or drive from the mill).
  • Qigong (in our studio or outside at the property) or Aqua Qigong (in our pool).
  • Gong experience (in our studio).
  • Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP).
  • Clean Space (used to uncover information as well as to promote rapid and dramatic change – you can get surprising insights and find that your thinking reconfigures itself so you do things differently and achieve new results).
  • Stargazing/astronomy at the local planetarium.

Prices are dependent on the group size and length of session chosen, and can be quoted on request. Further details on any of the above can also be provided on request, as can a WhatsApp call with the facilitator.
